Columbia Public Health: Developing a Centennial Transformation

Role: Design Director / Lead Designer

As a global authority in health equity, Columbia Mailman required a brand architecture that could bridge the gap between Ivy League tradition and the urgent, evolving demands of modern public health. I led the strategic development of a modular visual identity designed to unify the school’s diverse research departments under a singular, authoritative voice. The resulting framework provided a cohesive structure for the school’s global and all encompassing health advocacy, ensuring its mission — to build a healthy and just world — was communicated with institutional gravity across channels.

The project was an exercise in design stewardship, requiring a rigorous approach to typographic hierarchy and systemic logic to honor Columbia University’s heritage while projecting a forward-looking, accessible future. The system allows for seamless scalability from academic publications to high-impact social marketing. This work remains a testament to the belief that branding at this scale is not just an aesthetic choice, but a functional responsibility to facilitate clarity and connection in the public realm.
