Grand Rapids Latin American Film Festival: Cinema Without Borders

For the the 9th edition of the Grand Rapids Latin American Film Festival (GRLAFF), I developed a high-impact aesthetic designed to function 'Cinema Without Borders.' Rooted in my current city’s cultural fabric and as a part of my research during my tenure as a Professor at GVSU, the project celebrates the diversity of Latin American cinema through a bold, expressive, and provocative typographic language.

The strategy focused on creating a soulful narrative environment that bridges the gap between local community and global artistry. By balancing a high-energy palette and visceral lettering with a disciplined structural hierarchy, I provided a clear and impactful framework for the festival’s diverse programming — ensuring that every film, from award-winning documentaries to emerging shorts, was presented within a cohesion and authority.
